Art everywhere – galleries and museums of the world

As a girl from a very artsy family, galleries and (art) museums are part of every trip we take. This habit stuck with me as I got older and traveled more alone or with someone other than my family. I enjoy strolling through rooms full of interesting art pieces from artists I sometimes remember and sometimes need to learn who they are. What I love even more are the buildings in which the galleries are set. I love the diverse spaces that change the atmosphere and flow of the exhibitions and how the artist can interact with them. Precisely thanks to this, my favorite galleries in the world are the Louisiana Art Museum near Copenhagen, Tate Modern in London, and our lovely Trade Fair Palace of National Gallery in Prague, and my biggest wish is to go to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

It is easy to find time to discover Art galleries and Museums during our travels, but finding time to visit them in our hometown is way more complicated. So, as part of my creative challenge for course ISKM03, I decided to visit the Art and Industry Museum of Moravian Gallery in Brno.

ART, DESIGN, and Fashion

I am so glad that I finally went there! Design exhibitions are interesting because you can find quite ordinary objects and look at them from different angles. My friend and I discussed what glasses we have at home and what type of plates our grandmas have. The part I enjoyed the most was the focus on design after 2000. At first sight, it just looked like a lot of random objects in one place, but when we read the description and learned why the objects were located where they were, we understood the exhibition on a different level.

I really encourage you to visit your local galleries and museums and “be the tourist in your own city” more often.
